This is a book of non-traditional fairy tales, although one or two are very similar to known tales. They are rather heavy-handed with the Christian motifs and themes (even the "Norse" story was highly Christian), and the 'introduction' story was...kinda odd. It set up the rest of the tales in such a way to connect this book with other books by the author, but it had no real baring on the tales themselves, so you can feel free to skip it (or check out other books about Little Prudy like Little Prudy's Sister Susy or Little Prudy's Dotty Dimple!)Overall I thought this book was oddly charming, even though I usually don't care for the non-traditional fairy tale books. I'm not entirely sure if it was because the stories are actually *that* good, or if it's because they were bad enough that I found them hilarious, but they were enjoyable.
The active Table of Contents is a chart, but it's short, so you can see all of it at once. The page numbers are left in the text, and there are picture-less references to illustrations, both of which I've simply come to expect from freely-published kindle books.
The stories contained are:
Introduction
Cristobal
Wild Robin (*coughTamlincough*)
The Vesper Star
The Water-Kelpie
The Lost Sylphid
The Castle of Gems
The Elf of Light
The Princess Hilda
Goldilocks (but not your usual Goldilocks)
